As I started to take classes under Mrs. Samson i have found out few things which surprisingly are always not new to me but I haven't thought of those ideas yet. But I will only tell about the disC that is different from disK which is one of the things I never realized before >.< **pabbo** So let me state some of the statements that my mind could remind as of now. First as of their physical appearances, disC and disK are both flat and rounded. But disC was made up of __ while disK was constructed of substrate. DisKs are magnetic media somehow disCs were an optical media. They are both storage devices but disKs are always rewritable unless intentionally locked or write-protected on the other hand, disCs could be a disc-once and some could be deleted/rewritten over many times. I have also read that disCs are always removable. But I know that disKs could also be removed anytime a user wish but mostly it stays inside a casing that is intact to other parts that builds the system unit. I learned that disKs could be partitioned but I don't thinks disCs could **correct me if am wrong** One article stated that disC is a media that can be written to and read using a low-powered laser beam whereas disK refers to the media that can be written to via microscopic magnetized needles on the disk's surface. However on the side of the language history, it was stated that there has been a difference on spelling because of the different place of emergence just like how British spells differently from Americans (e.g. dialogue - dialog, caffe-coffee, thou-you, etc.) it stated that disK spelling was mostly used during the 17th century that denotes 'in-house transcriptions' then disC came after the 'compact disc' was introduced and denotes 'commercial records'. Examples of disKs are: hard disk drives, floppy disks. Examples of disCs are: compact disc(CD), CD&DVD R & RWs, CD/DVD-rom & ram. I have reviewed the articles' point and knew something good & new today, **yatta!** references: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2300 http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-the-difference-between-a-disc-and-a-disk.htm http://www.wsu.edu/~brians/errors/disc.html http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20060826212822AAnUK2M http://dictionary.laborlawtalk.com/Disk http://tips4pc.com/basics/disc_and_disk.htm
